I started writing my blog in Nepali in 2011. Here is the steps I took in learning how to type and write in Nepali kha-ra-ra-ra खरररररर 🙂

The strategy I used was to set the desktop background of my computer to an image of “Nepali keyboard layout”. (Right-click desktop and change desktop picture. In windows if you press “start + D” you can switch between desktop and your writing window). You can right click on the image below and just download it).
Then I started translating my most popular articles into Nepali. Translating your own english writings, however few you have, is a great way to start, since only you know the real emotional tone, depth and style in your writings.
Translate fast and rough at first. Then leave it for a few days. Then go back again to recheck what you have translated. Improve it. Repeat this 2 or 3 times. The finished piece will be a lot polished. You will smile at the progress made!
Publish it on your website/blog/facebook now. Promote it by sharing it in social networking sites. I use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. People deserve to read it.
Don’t forgot to post links between the English version and Nepali version of your article. Sometimes if English becomes hard to comprehend, they can quickly switch to reading it in Nepali.
Every few months go back to original article, re-edit again and re-share it again. With fresh eyes the article will only improve in quality.
If you know a friend who is good in Nepali, please give the article to them for proof-reading. They can see what you can’t see. ( I use Google docs/drive for document collaboration which comes free with any Gmail account)
Important note: Do start posting very short statusupdates on social media in Nepali. This way the slow pace of your nepali typing will not frustrate you to abandon your noble quest to write/type in Nepali. Patience rocks! ).
One thing i am hoping to do in future, is to “record audio posts: i.e reading my own posts in my voice and recording it. You should try it. Use your own mobile phones to record your voice and then post it in websites like soundcloud.com. Time to be a “podcaster” too.

How to install Nepali alphabets in your computer / iPhone / iPad :

For iPhone /iPad users ( I don’t know how to in Android) :
1) Just press on “Settings” >> “Keyboard” >> “Keyboards”>> “Add new keyboard” >> “Hindi” . (unfortunately they may not have come out with “nepali” at the time of writing but makes no real difference functionally)
You are done. ( Just go to any application where you can type and press small “globe” icon besides space bar to switch to “nepali alphabets” 🙂

What is Google Input Tool Nepali?

Google has created Google Input tool to type in specific Nepali language. The peculiarity of this tool is that you can type in Nepali or your mother language using the English keyboard of your computer.

But for some reason now this tool is only available online, which you can use by installing from the Plugin in Chrome browser. But in this guide, we have given the file of Google Input tool Nepali offline installer which you can download and install in your computer and can type in Nepali without internet also.

The new input tools came in two different setups. The ' Google Input Tool' is the first one you should download, and the second is the language pack you want to install. The Google Input Tool requires one of the operating systems Windows 7 / XP / 2000 Pro / Server 2003 / Vista / 2000 Server / Server 2008/7/8 / Server 2012 to run on the computer that it will be installed.

Install it after downloading. To use Google Input Tool with other applications, first, open the application and then choose Input Tool. The Google Input tool can be opened by clicking on the Language bar on the desktop, then selecting the input tool language icon. Alternatively, the input tool can be enabled using the shortcut key if it has been previously configured.

After installing the software, you will see the option of a language tool in the taskbar of the computer. Click on this option and choose the Nepali language.
Now Google Input Tools has been activated, and you will see a Language Toolbar just above the taskbar. From here, you can change the language to English or Nepali, enable the on-screen board, and access the settings of the tool.
As soon as the tool is enabled, you can type anywhere on the computer in the Nepali language.
If you have to write in English in between Crtl+G, You can switch languages with the button.
To write in Nepali, you have to write the words in English, and with the help of the word tool, they will be converted into Nepali.
Users can type on the keyboard.
Suggestions will also be given by guessing the words in the tool as you type. You can choose words from the list.
A keyboard of Nepali letters will appear on the screen as soon as you enable the on-screen keyboard from the toolbar. From here you can select Nepali words and also type them.
